Tanya Southey Is A Partner At Sheldon Harris, Rejoining In 2025.
Tanya has been in the C-Suite as a Chief People Officer (CPO) for over two decades for both large global businesses and locally listed Australian enterprises. She also worked as a Partner for Sheldon Harris for two years prior to being headhunted to lead the Asia Pacific Human Resources function for SABMiller who had acquired Carlton United Breweries in 2012. During her time as a CPO, she has worked on complex acquisitions, divestments including the global sale of SABMiller for US$107 billion in 2016.
Tanya’s career has focussed on cultural and commercial transformations. During her time at General Electric (GE), she was involved in six acquisitions and integrations and multiple restructuring initiatives, including rapidly downsizing the business in the Global Financial Crisis. She worked in the USA for two years developing GE’s global Risk Function and was also the Vice President, Human Resources for Australia and New Zealand for five years. She has also held CPO roles for Jetstar and most recently Vicinity Centres a listed A-REIT owning over 60 Shopping Centres. During her tenure she managed cultural change and expertly managed the People response during COVID.
Tanya commenced her career in South Africa, working for Liberty Life a large insurance company and was exposed to change and transformation during the dismantling of apartheid and the impact that had on culture in the workplace. Tanya emigrated to Australia in 1997 and commenced her career in search for a small boutique search firm Barber and Bunton prior to joining GE.
