John Sheldon

John Is A Founding Partner Of Sheldon Harris And Leads The Firms Board Services Practice

Over the last 25 years John has worked exclusively with Boards and senior executive teams of large private and ASX listed entities in ensuring appropriate governance and process protocols were in place for efficient operation of the organization as well as assisting in identifying improvement in both skills and processes to meet the changing strategic priorities of the organizations. Much of this work has been very hands on with Chairman and other Non-Executive Directors as well as CEO’s. 

John’s experience covers Mining, Energy and Natural Resources, Manufacturing, Professional Services and Tourism and Leisure sectors. He has worked in Australia, Europe and Asia Pacific.  

Prior to forming the Firm John held a range of senior practice management roles with KPMG. For 5 years he was the Regional Managing Partner of KPMG’s World Class Finance practice. In this role he worked with the CFO’s and finance teams of a range of global multi-national companies and leading ASX listed organisations assisting them benchmark and transform the function. Consequently, John has a strong understanding of the leadership and organisational capability required to build and sustain a truly value adding, best practice function. 

His last role at KPMG was National Managing Partner Consulting, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of KPMG. The organisation had a turnover of $140m, employed 875 people and counted the majority of the top 50 blue chips among its clients.  As National Managing Partner John had complete responsibility for all sales, marketing, delivery, finance and human resource functions. 

John is, and has been, actively involved in several not for profit and community Boards as both Chairman and Director.

Andrew Harris

Andrew Is A Founding Partner Of Sheldon Harris.

During his career Andrew has consulted to the Boards, CEO’s and Executives of leading Financial Services and Industrial companies on a range of key strategic, performance and talent management issues. He has also held senior business leadership roles in Professional Services, both locally and internationally and been involved in start-ups and the operational and financial restructure and turnaround of several businesses working with private investors. 

Andrew has advised on the appointment of Chairs, Non-Executive Directors, Chief Executives, Managing Directors, business unit leadership and senior functional roles, across a range of sectors, but with a focus in financial services.  He also has extensive experience in the conduct of board and executive leadership succession and assessment programs. 

Prior to establishing Sheldon Harris, he was the Head of the Melbourne Office of Korn/Ferry International, and a Senior Client Partner in the Global Financial Markets Practice and a Principal at Egon Zehnder International.  

Before his career in executive search, Andrew worked for eight years with KPMG Consulting. During this time, he spent six years in Asia in a variety of practice management roles with a focus on delivering strategy, performance improvement and financial restructuring programs in the financial services sector. His last role was as Chief Operating Officer of KPMG’s regional consulting practice. 

Andrew commenced his career with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he spent seven years gaining exposure to the Bank’s capital markets, institutional and retail banking operations. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne; Post Graduate qualifications in Banking & Finance from Monash University and an MBA from the University of Melbourne. 

Bronwyn Is A Partner At Sheldon Harris, Joining In 2017.

With a decade’s experience in Executive Search, Bronwyn advises her clients on leadership, cultural assessment and succession planning. Bronwyn’s clients include publicly listed and private companies, as well as mutuals and Government-owned enterprises. She has assisted many clients across a range of sectors and geographies with global, senior-level searches for positions, including CEOs, Board Directors, Chief Investment Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Risk Officers and Human Resources Directors. Outside of cross industry functional roles, her industry focus includes insurance, wealth, asset management, banking and aged care. Prior to joining Sheldon Harris Consulting, Bronwyn was a Principal with Egon Zehnder International in London and Melbourne and a Managing Director for Sheffield Haworth Australia. 

Previously, Bronwyn worked for Bank of America in London on the trading floor in a specialist structured rates role, marketing vanilla and structured derivatives (for investment and risk management purposes) to Treasury and Finance departments at German, Austrian, Swiss and Luxembourg banks. The first decade of her career was as a strategy consultant with Accenture, working in Australia, New Zealand, Holland and Germany, where she had a key focus on the deregulating power industry and the financial services sector. 

Bronwyn has a first-class honours degree in Economics from Monash University and an MBA from INSEAD. 

Nick Henderson

Nick Is A Partner At Sheldon Harris, Joining In 2019.

Nick has been an executive search professional for over two decades focusing on the banking and finance sector. He has engaged in search and consulting across commercial, corporate, and investment banking as well as asset management including traditional funds management, alternative asset management and private equity. Most recently Nick was a Partner with Korn Ferry having responsibility for developing and managing that firm’s financial services practice in Melbourne. 

Nick commenced his professional career with Cazenove & Co UK, joining the Asian Equities division in 1987. He entered the executive search industry in 1996 with A.Baillieu and Associates in Hong Kong. His sector focus was investment banking and asset management throughout the Asia Pacific region, including the sub-continent. In 2002, Nick became the major shareholder of the business. He subsequently sold the business in 2005 to a UK-based executive search firm Wellesey Partners, which was seeking to gain a foothold in the Asia Pacific market.   

For the following decade Nick shared responsibility for growing Wellesley Partners Asia Pacific further throughout the region which included opening offices in Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney. He also led key client relationships advising on complex people issues and growth strategies. In addition, Nick successfully completed several hundred senior executive search assignments across the region for existing global and regional institutions as well as new entrants to the Asia Pacific market.  

Nick was educated in Melbourne receiving a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University.

Vanita Vaz

Vanita Vaz Is A Partner With Sheldon Harris, Joining In 2018.

With over 14 years’ experience in executive search across multiple geographies, Vanita has managed execution of search engagements for both publicly listed and privately held organisations, playing a lead role in Executive and Non-Executive search, assessment and succession projects. She has also worked extensively with both Federal and State Government bodies as well as some of Australia’s leading arts and culture organisations. 

Previously Vanita gained extensive knowledge working with international search firms Heidrick & Struggles and Egon Zehnder, where she focussed on the Technology, Telecommunications, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Government and Not for Profit sectors. She was also responsible for the Financial Services Sector focusing on fintech, retail banking, working on senior C-suite appointments both in Australia and internationally. 

Vanita commenced her earlier career as an Executive with Datamatics Limited – a large Indian multinational technology organisation working in communications and the marketing business. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations & Mass Media Communications. 

Andrew Valentine Is A Partner With Sheldon Harris, Joining In 2023.

Andrew possesses over two decades’ human capital management experience with a particular focus on board and executive search, and leadership development. His professional experience has been gained in Australia and the United Kingdom where he has worked with boutique and global executive search firms including CTPartners and DH International. Most recently, he served as a Principal with Challis & Company, a boutique board and executive search firm, in Sydney. Andrew’s search experience spans a range of industries, with an emphasis on financial and professional services, digital and technology, and private equity, and has included the appointment of company directors, chief executive officers (CEOs), and other C-suite executives at a range of large publicly-listed and government-owned corporations, medium-sized businesses, scale-up ventures and not-for-profits.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from Macquarie University, a Master of Business Administration (Executive) with Distinction from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), jointly awarded by UNSW Sydney and the University of Sydney, and a Doctor of Philosophy (with Excellence) in management and economics from UNSW Sydney. His research has addressed aspects of corporate governance and strategic leadership, including CEO succession, and has featured in top-tier international publications including those of the Academy of Management and IZA – Institute for Labor Economics. Andrew also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the AGSM where he instructs strategy and management classes in the MBA program.
